Course Description More Details
The GaDOE math team will be here to speak to our districts. Their expectation is to have at least one person to attend from each school.
Target Audience: This training will be geared towards teacher leaders, lead teachers, coaches, curriculum directors. assistant principals and/or principals to redeliver to their schools/districts.
With the implementation of the new Georgia K-12 Math Standards in Fall 2023, participants will receive necessary information to redeliver to teachers and leaders in their school/district to ensure a smooth transition. Participants will:
- interpret transition information and support for the initial year of implementation of Georgia’s K-12 Mathematics Standards in detail.
- identify mathematics concepts and skills which have shifted from one grade level or course to a previous grade level or course with the adoption of Georgia’s K-12 Mathematics Standards.
- engage in Georgia's New K-12 Mathematics Standards Grade Level and Course Overviews, Mathematical Modeling Framework and Statistical Reasoning Framework to effectively redeliver its importance.
- understand that mathematical modeling and statistical reasoning should be incorporated at every level of a student’s education to guide learners through the sense-making process, ultimately leading to the goal of statistical literacy in all grade levels and courses. Reasoning with statistics provides a context that necessitates the learning and application of a variety of mathematical concepts through modeling the math effectively.
- use the standards of mathematical practices effectively.
- engage in grade appropriate unit learning plans and understand the design and components to better educate math teachers on how to implement them in the classroom with fidelity.
- understand how to use the Quality Assurance Rubric when and if other other resources are used to supplement the Georgia K-12 Math Standards.
- receive the latest assessment updates using the new Georgia K-12 Math Standards and online experience, if applicable.
- review the latest updates pertaining to the new Georgia K-12 Math Standards that were not addressed previously.
- develop a plan of action to redeliver to their school/district.
