Course Description
 More Details

This session will describe the rationale and cumulative implementation process for

districts to identify discrete skills necessary for

automatic word recognition as part of the five pillars of reading. The data

analysis includes current levels of risk by student, class, grade, sub-group and

school. School leadership teams and grade-level teams use this data to determine

implications and make instructional decisions for Tier I and Tier II reading

instruction.

Schools have discrete skill level data that has not been available to them ever

before using typical screeners and benchmark assessments. This data drives

focused and explicit instruction in a progressive scope and sequence. Schools are

able to track school-wide the mastery of automatic word recognition to make

efficient and effective decisions about core and supplemental instruction to

ensure every student makes progress toward reading fluency and comprehension.

Instructor: Charity Roberts, REI Team
